Soleil/For Always Visual Development
Finally finished my film folks. These pictures are just a few early design concepts. My final film ended up going in a totally different direction due to some complications I had. I spend my whole life working in two dimensions then I quickly make a shift into the third dimension. It's a tough road. I was really slow picking things up and it didn't go as planned, but I'm still very proud of what I accomplished and I will definitely continue to get better at the CG game. Right now, it's just really obvious that my 2D game is stronger.

An Actual Drawing
Me trying something new. Super un-motivated when it comes to my final film so I decided to get back to my roots. Haven't drawn in awhile and it feels super good. I plan to learn how to model in 3d a lot better so I can mix both mediums in the future. It's going to be dope.

Life Drawing...
A little something about me is that I really enjoy life drawing. Figure drawing is my jam and it is one skill that I want to hone and take care of until I die. I'm not that great but I want to learn. Problem is I just couldn't find the time. I get to school, I play with 3D software, I get home, I pass out. I feel disgusting that I just let my figure drawing die. I'm super rusty and it shows. I can't even get off 30 second gestures, and it feels really bad. It's upsetting because I loved figure drawing so much but I just let it run dry. Not only that but one of the profs who taught me has a special place near and dear to my heart. She is one of the many people who keep me going, and to just let my skill go to waste like that. It's embarrassing. I promise that I will make time for figure drawing, I may not have time now but I will make time in the future.
Here is a 3 minute drawing and a 5 minute drawing.

Character Dev + Stills
Yo guys, doing some vis dev for my final film right now. The story isn't really set in stone but I think I'm going the heartwarming route. I rode the comedic horse and emotional isn't really in my comfort zone so I think I'm going to see where this goes. Here's a potential candidate for my story, and two stills from my ten second short.

Just Deserts...
The ten second interstitial I'm currently working on. Not only do I have to worry about this but I have to worry about pitching my final film this coming Tuesday. Plus all these little projects I have to do.
Added a lil something to the scene from my last post. Made it a little more... cute? Trying to figure out how I'm going to handle my background.
The story has already changed since I boarded it. There are a lot of things to consider when preparing something other people are going to see. For example, I originally had the camera pan in between scene eight and nine to transition cleanly between alive and dead but the transition between six and seven seemed too quick. It felt like it only took four steps to get to the tree. You also lost the feeling of the main char being stuck in this vast desert, so I added an XLS (Extreme Long Shot) in scene six between frame two and three to put you back into the environment. Since I moved the 'We'll be right back' scene, I had no way to cleanly transition between alive and dead. I sort of like the hard cut though, it may add a little comedic flair but it can also have the potential to confuse the audience. So maybe I'll just do a shoddy sandstorm across the screen to transition to the bones. That's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to my thought process. Animation is difficult :(

More Props...
... For my 10 second film. I need to do an assignment that requires taking three objects and practice with three point lighting. It's sorta hard when you have geometric shapes considering how light works and all.

Cacti
One of the few props that I will include in my 10 second film. I wanted everything to have a sort of geometric polygonal look to it. One could say a folded paper origami kinda feel. This program is one helluva ride. I thought I was going to have a break on Wednesday... NOPE.. Reading week my backside... more like... not... reading week... Vray rendering... sooo pretty.

rigging_skeleton_L_end
Painful, painful process. Had to make joints, had to name each joint, had to parent these joints to other joints that made sense. Even after all that I still have a few more hurdles to jump over before I can finally say that this dude is able to be animated.

Toy Model - Interstitial
EDIT: Changed the background from black to soft gray 'cause I noticed he lost his thumbs in the dark background.
Guys, A little toy I modeled from DGPH. Topo from Molestown is the name I believe, not quite sure. It's something that popped up researching vinyl toys. This guys going to be part of my 10 second interstitial. Modeled in maya, brought into mudbox, and rendered in Vray. Gonna try and rig this guy tomorrow so I can finally start animating him.

MudBAXX
Hey guys, seriously work overload right now. I have six to seven day weeks and it's super draining. The programs a blast though. I was supposed to go to school today but yea it's family day. Here's a mudbox sculpt I did. The prof gave us a base shape and we had to create our own design based off that model. I don't really have a story to go along with this dude. He's probably a Herpe Goblin or I dunno maybe this is where your Jam really comes from. He like squeezes his boils into jars and slaps a blueberry jam sticker on it. Lolol ruined blueberry jam forever.

Bouncing Ball and Machine Hybrid
This is the closest I could have gotten to 24 frames in gif. form. This isn't my final it's just me playing around with frames. An intense stretch and an intense squash, not quite what my profs are looking for, just me screwing around.
For this one I had to take two machines and combine 'em. I decided to go with a fridge and a copter. This programs pretty intimidating. I've got people all around me who can model the freakin' new york skyline in like 2 minutes while I struggle with a pop can. I'm having a blast though and it is definitely rewarding to see finished work.

Pullin' My Hair Out
Damn guys, too many things going on. I'm still alive just super busy. the only day I've got some time to relax is on Sundays. Wait, not even, I did some storyboards today. If I ever remember to bring home my projects that I've been working on in Computer Animation I'll post 'em. Here's some raccoon dog wolf... thing. Messing around with this Intuos 5 that was supplied by my program. Super rad.

Pirate Angel
My last drawing before I go to bed to get my body ready for class tomorrow. This thing was done in 4 minutes. I enjoy fast drawings, you have no clue what you're going to get. I will try and update this as much as possible it all depends how I get treated homework wise. If I do move to tumblr I'll most likely post a link here. Although, it doesn't really take a scientist to figure out my tumblr handle.
So I guess I'll see you when I see you.
